Launching a startup can be difficult, but Phandeeyar’s accelerator program provides startups with the training they need for sustained, long-term growth and funding!
The official launch of the second cohort of Phandeeyar’s Accelerator program took place on Thursday, June 8th. Over 120 tech entrepreneurs, both local and international, gathered at Phandeeyar’s downtown innovation lab to hear from the accelerator team on how Phandeeyar can help accelerate the growth of their startup!
David Madden, Phandeeyar’s CEO, explained how Myanmar’s connectivity and digital revolution is an exciting opportunity for new companies to build great tech products that can generate social impact. Amazingly, there are more active SIM cards in Myanmar, than there are people! Phandeeyar recognizes this opportunity and wants to harness the potential of tech in Myanmar through initiatives like its accelerator program. Here are some key highlights from the launch event:
What is an accelerator?
Like over 400 accelerator programs across the world, Myanmar’s first ever and largest tech startup, Phandeeyar Accelerator, helps startups scale their products and services. In exchange for 12% equity, Phandeeyar provides startups with a broad package of benefits and training. In the long run, the accelerator will help startups achieve rapid scale, prepare them for further investment, and help them get to the right product/market fit.
The Phandeeyar Accelerator Package
The Accelerator program provides a range of benefits for startups including $25,000 in seed funding, over $200k in free services, free office space and internet, a vast mentor network of local and international mentors with entrepreneurial experience, access to a large regional investor network, and a six month long intensive training program – focused on the lean startup methodology.
What are we looking for?
Phandeeyar focuses on accelerating startups specifically working on tech products and services. The most important factor in gaining acceptance to the accelerator program is a strong core team. The co-founders must be passionate and possess a high level of skill in their respective field. To join the accelerator program, teams must have a minimum viable product, and exhibit some form of market validation – that is, feedback from customers that shows that they are excited about, and would potentially use your product/service.
