Phandeeyar Accelerator, Myanmar’s first ever startup accelerator, held Demo Day 2018 for the Cohort 2 on March 29. Around 18 founders from 7 different startups of the Cohort 2 pitched in front of local and international investors, showcasing the fruit of their hard work from the past 6 months.
Last year, 4 most promising startups from Yangon were selected to be part of Phandeeyar Accelerator Program. This year, we almost doubled the figure taking in 7 of Myanmar’s high potential startups including talented entrepreneurs from Mandalay. In addition, 4 of the 7 startups are woman CEO founders. Six of the prominent local and international investors acted as the judges and we had over 70 wide assorted participants ranging from local and regional ecosystem builders and investors. The startups pitched the core of their business in order to catch the heart of the judges. Shwe Bite, a startup which brings home-cooked food to you, won the pitch of the day. It was a tough choice given all the startups have done amazing job showcasing their business to the judges and investors. Yet, after the announcement of the prize, pitch of the day, the reception was hold at Burma Bistro to celebrate this beginning of the startup journeys.
The winner, Shwe Bite will earn a trip to Singapore to meet with investors where the expenses will be fully paid by Phandeeyar. The demo day marks the beginning of their startup career and we wish the best of luck to the startups on their journey to build successful startups providing solutions to make the life Myanmar people better.
