Violence Against Women in the Digital World

On July 27th, Phandeeyar organized a meet-up to talk about “Violence Against Women in the Digital World” with 52 people participation. The panelists were Ma Yatanar Htun from Myanmar ICT for Development Organization (MIDO), Ma Aye Thada Hla from Gender Equality Network (GEN) and Ma Shin Thant from Color Rainbow.

Gender-based violence online meet-up at Phandeeyar

The panelists discussed and shared about what online gender-base violence look like in Myanmar, how happening on online have a strong connection with offline with examples, how being harassed online put the risk to the women’s lives in the real world, what we can do when something like this happen online, the solutions, how men can support this and what it looks like in the other countries and the campaigns in the regions.

The meet-up was successfully finished with the participants agreeing on supporting the victims who are being harassed and threatened online and having a clear image about gender-base violence online.
